The course is suitable for individuals and families with children over eight. There is a charge of £6 for adults and £1 for children up to 14. Booking is essential. The courses have been organised by the Love Food project, whichsupports the production, use and appreciation of locally grown or reared food throughout Teesdale, Weardale, the Allen Valleys and Derwentside.
The event will be lead by Bruce Ferguson of Wild North Discovery, with support from Harehope.
Assistant to the Director of Love Food, Angela Whiting, said: ‘We have already had a similar event in Allendale, which proved very popular.
‘The course will look at what’s in season and how to gather and prepare it. There will a food walk and lots of hands on practical work, with a chance to sample the food cooked over an open fire.
‘Love Food supports the use of local food and you don’t get much more local than the great outdoors in our beautiful dales.’
There will also be information on edible wild plants and how to catch wild meat.
