Alnwick Castle Summer Medieval Market

Alnwick Castle is re-opening for the start of the new season on Saturday 31st March, with some exciting new developments for 2012, including a new medieval food market.

As the second largest inhabited castle in England and home to the Percy family since 1309, Alnwick Castle offers history on a grand scale. From Harry Hotspur to Harry Potter, Alnwick Castle is one of the most popular visitor attractions in North East England with up to 3,000 visitors per day during peak season.

As part of the new food offer for the 2012, Alnwick Castle will be hosting a medieval food court from Easter to September in the Hunters Courtyard, next to the Sanctuary and Guest Hall, open 7 days a week. The food court will feature a traditional hog roast, burgers and pies from Turnbull’s of Alnwick, dairy ice cream, home-made pancakes and doughnuts and will be housed in medieval jousting tents within the courtyard. In addition to this offer, Alnwick Castle have purchased two medieval, wooden market stalls, which they would like to offer to local food producers to come and sell/market their wares and add to the medieval food theme.

The stalls are being offered at £50 per week per stall for which you will be invoiced. Alnwick Castle opens at 10.00am and closes at 6.00pm and is open 7 days per week. Weeks will run from Monday to Sunday and depending on take-up and interest, we are offering each producer an initial slot of 1 week. Please note that the stalls are a simple wooden structure and no electricity is available, but they will be canvass covered. The management team would really like any producers taking a stall to be open and present as much as possible during their allotted week to avoid disappointment to visitors.

This is a fantastic opportunity to promote and sell your goods to new customers for an extremely reasonably price. We are passionate about local food and local produce at Alnwick Castle and are really hoping you embrace this chance to be involved with the new Medieval Food Market.
