Celebrating five years at the top!
The Feathers Inn enjoys a lofty position in picturesque Hedley on the Hill, only fifteen minutes from Newcastle. It also sits atop a 'hill' of prestigious awards, which now include The Northumbria Dining Pub of the Year 2013. This is the fifth year that family-run pub and restaurant has claimed this accolade from the Good Pub Guide, proving their consistent commitment to quality.
Rhian and Helen Cradock, who have been at the pub since 2007, are still reeling from last year's brace of awards; Great British Gastro Pub of the Year and Great British Pub of the Year.
Chef-owner Rhian said, "It's an honour to be told you serve the best pub food in the region. This award is based on customer recommendations, plus anonymous inspections, so it doesn't come easy."
Helen added, "We're based in a charming, rural village, but we're also easy to access, making it perfect for local people and tourists to taste great food in the countryside."
The Feathers Inn is very much part of the community, through their use of local suppliers as well as organising events such as the Northumbria Food and Wine Festival, plus other seasonal celebrations with a regional flavour.
Rhian is proud of his special team and excited about the future, "Our chefs and front of house staff are incredibly dedicated and they deserve this award for all their hard work and commitment. We hope to expand our business so we can share our food with more people and keep Northumbria on the culinary map."
