Fabulous North East fish recipes are being sought as the fishing season casts off in earnest.
The Love Food project, which supports the production, use and appreciation of locally grown or reared food throughout Teesdale, Weardale, the Allen Valleys and Derwentside, is looking to extend its collection of local food recipes.
Director of Love Food, Hazel Coppack, said: ‘The North Pennine Dales teem with fantastic fish and we have some of the best fishing in the country in our reservoirs and rivers.
‘We are always looking to extend our collection of local recipes and would love to hear about any which include locally caught fish and other local ingredients.
‘The fishing season for Rainbow and Brown Trout is now open on most reservoirs and rivers in our area, and we are asking for favourite recipes from people who cook their catch. We are also interested in how people cook Salmon and Sea trout that come into season later in the year.’
Recipes will be added to the Love Food website www.lovefood.me where there are other great ideas for meals using locally available ingredients.
If you are fishing on rivers or reservoirs, you will need a national rod licence and local permit.
If you have any fish recipes please send them to jo@tastenortheast.co.uk alternatively send them to Taste North East, Beaufront Park, Anick Road, Hexham, NE46 4TU.
