The Environmental Academy is seeking companies to participate in a European funded project that will develop environmental awareness within the food and drink industry.
The project ‘Environmental Renaissance in Europe’ aims to produce a behavioural change within Food and Drink SME companies in Europe.
Aims of the project:
• Improve business and resource efficiency.
• Create a more environmentally aware workforce.
• Create a sustainable Food and Drink sector in Europe.
The project consortium is made up of partners within UK, Slovenian, Spanish and German business communities, particularly in the food and drink sector. The Environmental Academy is the lead partner for the project, working together with four partner organisations across Europe including: Ainia (Spain), isw Institut (Germany), Bildungsinstitut Pscherer (Germany) and Center razvoja človeških virov (Slovenia).
The course covers key environmental issues facing the food and drink industry. Water, energy and material consumption are primary concerns of the food and drink industry, both from an environmental and financial perspective. The course examines ways to reduce these business inputs whilst maintaining quality of the product. Each module provides industry specific case studies and activities that will help food and drink companies implement environmental management techniques.
The course will provide an opportunity to embed good practice in SME's, creating a more informed workforce with an increase in transferable skills of employees. This creates significant growth in capacity as well as providing wider career choices in a sector that is ever expanding due to global environmental agenda.
The course has been developed in English, Spanish, German and Slovenian and is now being trialled by food and drink companies in each of the partner countries. Environmental Academy are looking for more companies to trial the course and provide us with feedback on the content and format.
Any company in the food and drink industry that employs between 2-249 staff can take part in this project. Learners that complete the course will obtain a certificate recognised by awarding body NCFE upon completion. To secure your place, please contact Sian Hepworth at the Environmental Academy on +44(0)191 495 6248 or email sian@environmental-academy.co.uk. before the 24th February 2012.
