Flexible Training Programme Offers Boost to North East Food & Drink Producers

The North East England Food & Drink Group (NEEFDG) is currently running a programme of flexible training courses for the region’s food and drink producers. Developed and delivered on behalf of NEEFDG by HSF Training, the series of courses includes scheduled events around the region, combined with the latest in distance learning methods. This combination is designed to help businesses who don’t have the time or resources to release staff off site and will give better access to training for producers in remote rural locations.

There are a variety of delivery methods available:

• Training at Northumbria Larder’s Hexham Office
• Training at HSF’s Birtley Office
• Distance Learning (Food Safety, Health & Safety only)
• E-Learning
• Training at your venue (8 or more people)

Skills training contract sets out to boost
region’s food and drink sector

NEEFDG has appointed Birtley based HSF Training Ltd to deliver a three year programme of specialist training across the region.

Starting in October, HSF Training will roll out a comprehensive calendar of courses for those operating in food and drink manufacturing. Improving skills provision has been identified as an essential objective in growing and sustaining a successful food and drink sector in the North East as part of the Regional Economic Strategy. The primary vision of NEEFDG is to ensure that the food and drink sector makes a significant and measurable contribution to our economy. One NorthEast and NEEFDG identified that a core task in achieving this was improving skills, partly through the provision of excellent training opportunities to people across the region.

Working closely with NEEFDG, HSF will deliver a programme designed to reach the region’s food and drink workforce with practical and relevant training activities and in the process raise the profile of the role of skills development in the sector. One aspect of the work will involve developing links with the National Skills Academy and making sure that training delivered in this region is at least compliant with national benchmark standards.

From Food Safety, Nutrition, BRC and SALSA to First Aid, Health and Safety, Food Styling, this exciting project will be delivered by HSF Training Ltd "Winner of the SOFHT Trainer of the Year Award 2007"
